ST. JOSEPH’S CHRISTIAN MOTHERS

St. Joseph’s became a member of the Confraternity on December 2, 1951. The object of the Christian Mothers is the Christian Home Education of children by Christian Mothers with the help of each other, the director and the bulletin from the confraternity. We try to help and care for others.

Christian Mothers meet the 1st Thursday of every month at 7:30 PM, with no meetings in January or February.

The Christian Mothers routinely do and donate to various things throughout the year. In the past dozen years, they annually:

- Donate to the St. Patrick’s Auction at the Nursing Center

- Christian Mother members select prayer partners for Confirmants and First Communicants

- Get gifts for the First Communicants

- Donate to the TV Mass on Sunday

- In May, have a mass dedicated to the living members of Christian Mothers

- Sponsor members to the retreat in Crookston and sometimes other retreats too.

- Participate in TLC at the Nursing Center 2-3 times a year

- On July 26th, the Feast of St. Anne and at other times, members visit the elderly and lonely of our community

- Send cards to ill parishioners, those hospitalized and new mothers.

- Donate to the Arch confraternity of Christian Mothers

- Once a year, served the Birthday Party at the Nursing Center and bought presents for the residents having birthdays in that month

- Purchased and distributed Christian Mother Confraternity bulletins to our members

- In November, have a mass dedicated to the deceased members of Christian Mothers and sometimes for our deceased priest too

- Donate flowers for the altar for Christmas and Easter

- Make Christmas baskets for some members of our parish – members bake and donate items for these baskets

- Send Christmas cards to the lonely (about 30 per year)

- Donate gifts and sing carols at Christmas to the Mahnomen Nursing Home Residents

- Donate to Hospice, MCCL, Salvation Army, Relay for Life and items to the homeless shelter.
